Philosophy

Health and happiness are the natural birthright of all human beings. We are meant to know the joy of being healthy physically, mentally, emotionally, psychologically and spiritually. Yet few realize this birthright. Many people suffer from chronic pain and chronic illness and are unable to find relief. The New Life Health Center was created to offer the hope of health and happiness amid the stress of modern life.

By working with the best from Traditional Oriental Medicine, modern western medicine, and natural yogic and holistic healing methods, the Center provides a healing environment where many patients feel their balance and health can be restored.

At the Center, suffering and sickness are used as stepping stones to true health. Powerful healing energy can be developed by strengthening the body, mind and spirit, developing balanced daily habits, living harmoniously with the natural environment, and through pursuing self education and understanding.

Since Bo-In Lee, Lic. Ac., established a healing practice in the United States in 1980, thousands of people have learned to heal themselves under his guidance. The Patient's Experiences section of this site describes the experiences of just a few of those patients.

Eastern and Western Medicine

We at the New Life Health Center, integrate the methods of both Oriental and Western medicine to provide what we believe to be the best healing environment possible.  Within each system of medicine there is a great deal of time-tested information that has its own logic and usefulness.  Both of these medicine systems have their strengths and weaknesses.  While Western medicine has developed superior methods for dealing with trauma and acute conditions, Eastern Medicine has a more highly developed focus on chronic problems and preventative medicine.  Western medical treatments are often focused on treating the symptoms or effects of disease on the body, while Eastern treatment focuses more on the energy that leads to the disease state.  Wisdom lies in utilizing the best of both worlds while recognizing their inherent limitations.

Physician Asha Saxena, M.D., is available on a weekly basis.  Blood tests, X-rays, CT scans and emergency care are available as needed from one of the many local hospitals and laboratories.  By bringing together the best elements of these two traditions, the New Life Health Center provides an innovative and holistic system of healing for each individual who comes seeking care.

Consultations

The initial consultation is the first step for beginning a treatment program at the New Life Health Center. During the initial consultation you will have the opportunity to discuss your individual situation and health concerns with Bo-In Lee. Any relevant medical records (including X-Rays, blood tests, and previous treatments) should be brought with you to the initial consultation for review.

During your consultation Bo-In Lee will establish his own diagnosis of your body’s electrical system. This assessment will enable him to have a clearer picture of your body’s strengths, weaknesses, and imbalances.  Once Bo-In Lee arrives at an understanding of your condition he will recommend an appropriate course of treatment to meet your individual needs.

The power and effectiveness of Bo-In Lee’s method is found in his careful treatment of each person as a unique individual. In Oriental Medicine the focus is not on labeling diseases, but rather on investigating the energetic imbalances which are connected with the disease, and finding appropriate, specific treatments to restore balance and health. No two individuals are treated the same, even if they have the same Western diagnosis.

You will receive an extensive medical questionnaire packet to be filled out and returned to the New Life Health Center prior to the initial consultation.  At the time of your initial visit you can expect to spend approximately forty-five minutes with Bo-In Lee discussing your condition and concerns.  During this time you will have the opportunity to learn about your constitution or body type, as well as any system imbalances and what can be done to correct them. The initial consultation lays the foundation for a comprehensive treatment plan and an education in self-understanding which will be built upon in subsequent treatments.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
What is the cost of treatment?

A: In order to begin any treatments at the New Life Health Center you must schedule an appointment for an initial consultation (cost $270).  After this consultation, individual treatments, which may include acupuncture, electrical stimulation, infrared heat therapy, and moxibustion cost $145.

Do you accept health insurance?

What should I expect during the Initial Consultation?

A: Initial consultations with Bo-In Lee, Lic. Ac., last approximately 45 minutes.  During this time you will have the opportunity to discuss your individual situation and concerns in depth.  Bo-In Lee will provide you with an Eastern diagnosis of your constitution and condition, which is derived from a thorough assessment of your body’s energetic system. An individual treatment plan will then be formulated to address your specific health concerns. At the New Life Health Center we work closely with Western Medicine, so we recommend you bring any relevant medical records with you at the time of your initial consultation.

What is acupuncture?

A: Acupuncture is an ancient Oriental healing method based on thousands of years of research and experience.  According to Oriental Medicine there is a system of pathways in the body called meridians through which chi, the body’s natural energy and life force, flows.  Acupuncture involves the insertion of fine needles into specific points on the body to stimulate and balance the flow of chi, unlocking the body’s natural healing power.

Does acupuncture hurt?

A: Many people experience a tingling, heaviness, or electric sensation when the needles are inserted but it is usually subtle.  Bo-In Lee uses a very unique and powerful style of acupuncture which can involve stimulating the energy once the needles are inserted.  It is possible that some level of discomfort may be experienced in sensitive areas of the body during this stimulation, but it will be brief.

How deep are the needles inserted?

A: The depth of the needles depends on the area of the body being treated and the desired effects of the needle. However, needles are usually inserted from ¼-1 inch under the skin.

How big are the needles?

A: We use individually packaged, sterile, disposable needles that are no thicker than a strand of hair.

What conditions can be treated successfully with acupuncture?

A: Acupuncture is useful in treating a wide range of conditions.  Some of these include: chronic pain, sports injury, chronic fatigue, irritable bowel syndrome, cancer, insomnia, depression, infertility, digestive disorders, acid reflux, menopausal symptoms, premenstrual syndrome, migraines, decreased immunity, lack of energy, TMJ, muscle spasms/cramping, impotence, diabetes, asthma, hemorrhoids, sciatica, edema (swelling of hands or ankles), heart palpitations, dizziness, etc.

How many treatments will I need?

A: Here at the New Life Health Center, each individual case is viewed as unique.  For this reason it is difficult to specify how many treatments will be needed.  Some acute conditions may be resolved within a few treatments, while more chronic conditions may require a longer treatment program to see desired results. As a general guideline a series of twelve acupuncture treatments is usually recommended as a starting point.

Is Acupuncture compatible with Western Medical treatment?

A: Yes. Acupuncture is quite compatible with Western Medical treatment.  Many of our patients use acupuncture as a powerful complement to Western treatments.  Acupuncture may be used to support any treatments you are currently undergoing, and to lessen the uncomfortable side effects of some Western treatments and medications.

How much time does each treatment take?

A: Acupuncture treatments generally last about 30 minutes.
